Things to Do in the Redwoods: Explore Local Events in Humboldt County

When it comes to unforgettable things to do in the redwoods, Humboldt County offers more than just towering trees and scenic trails. This coastal gem is packed with vibrant local events that celebrate the region’s community spirit, culture, and connection to nature.

Kick off your weekend with the Friday Night Market in Old Town Eureka, where locals and visitors gather for live music, food trucks, artisan booths, and craft beverages. Held during the warmer months, this lively event brings the redwood coast to life with a festive, small-town vibe right along the historic waterfront.

If you’re in Arcata, don’t miss the Arcata Plaza Farmers Market, one of the best in Northern California. Held every Saturday, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy fresh, local produce, listen to live music, and shop from local makers — all under the canopy of towering redwoods.

One of Humboldt’s biggest summer highlights is the annual Oyster Festival in Arcata, a celebration of local seafood, sustainability, and coastal living. With oyster tastings, chef competitions, and entertainment for all ages, it’s a must-attend event that draws thousands to the redwood region.

Beyond these events, the list of things to do in the redwoods keeps growing — from art walks and food tours to seasonal festivals and outdoor movie nights. Whether you’re here for a day or a week, Humboldt County offers a unique mix of natural wonder and community-driven fun.

So come for the redwoods, but stay for the culture. There’s always something happening under the trees.
